Bradford Theatres has launched a new mobile site to make it easier for people to search for and book events on the move.
The adapted website was built in response to the growing number of people searching for local events on tablet devices and smartphones.
The site has been designed by Yorkshire digital agency 9xb.com to give greater emphasis to the What’s On area of the main site and make it possible for users to search by date and buy tickets on the go. It covers events at each of Bradford Theatres’ venues including the Alhambra, St George’s Hall, The King's Hall theatre and Winter Garden in Ilkley and city centre comedy venue The Studio.
Rob Burns, managing director of 9xb.com, said his development team had seen the number of enquiries for websites specifically aimed at smartphone and tablet users rise sharply in the second half of 2012. “The shift of emphasis to mobile has been particularly noticeable in the leisure sector but all businesses are now seeing a marked increase in the number of people accessing their sites via mobile devices,” he said.
“The number of people accessing the Bradford Theatres website from mobiles and tablets has risen by more than 100% in the past year and this new site will make it much easier for those visitors to browse events and book tickets on the move.”
