Google's Panda Let Loose In The Wild

Carrying on from Matt’s article Are You Prepared For Google Panda? I thought I’d explain a little further about how Panda updates work and what we can expect going forwards.

Matt Cutts recently announced, on behalf of Google at SMX West that their Panda algorithm updates would be much more tightly integrated into their overall rolling algorithm.

Until recently. Panda updates have rolled out in a jarring fashion; with the recent announcement this will be in a more continuous and inconspicuous manner. This being said it will be much harder to detect issues from a top-level overview.

I’ll personally welcome the new continuous updates as it should allow sites to recover much quicker from getting caught in an update, but we will just have to see how it pans out.

Recovering from a Panda update has meant ‘being caught’ in a filter and relying on the next update to let you out – providing you have fixed the issues of course! Hopefully this will mean sites can bounce back much quicker.

All being said, if this is the latest update is the last to be confirmed by Google and the last one we will be able to detect, I thought I’d bookmark all known Panda updates for your reference below.
